Red Wings vs Senators
Little Caesars Arena is very impressive. It is also very expensive....starting from parking ($40 to a beer $11 to a piece of pizza or anything else. Even a little bag of peanuts is $5.50)
The seats in section 216 row 11 has a claustrophobic type feel to it. Between the wall behind you
and the gondola in front of you, it is kind of closed in. All we could see was the ice rink itself.
You cannot see the HUGE scoreboard at all. I didn't even know they had one. The seats are a
little too narrow. You can't help but encroach on your neighbor. If you are a big person, you might want to purchase 2 seats. It would've been a great idea if they had the arm rests that move up.
Great place to catch a game
Everyone will tell you how beautiful the new arena is, and they're right, it is very nice. But more importantly it is well run, clean, and fun to visit. First there are three restaurants. We ate at the Sports and Social Club which is your typical sports bar with many screens showing the current games. Good bar food and some local beers. We had reservations before the game (2:30 reservation before 5 pm game) but made a mistake - we used our tickets to come into a general admission gate for the arena and then were told we couldn't access the restaurant from inside until 3 pm! Fortunately some of the arena staff took us in hand and escorted us to the restaurant and scanned us out so we could reenter later. (The staff are very interested in helping out and making sure you enjoy the visit.) Be warned - the restaurants are open before the arena is open for the event BUT you must enter through the restaurant's outside door in order to avoid the problem we got into. We were seated in the lower bowl for the game and had great view of the ice. Some of the highest seats are vertigo inducing so a warning to those who are sensitive to this. There are announcements before every period on how spectators are to maintain a comfortable and family friendly environment and they mean it! One spectator behind us used F bomb profanity in something they yelled at the players and the usher in the section IMMEDIATELY cautioned them that if they did it again they'd be out. Visiting fans were treated courteously - no problem if you're there to root for the other team (unlike some arenas I could name). Unless you're familiar with the area I would recommend reserving parking at the arena parking garages - it's very convenient, easy to find, and the staff do a good job of directing traffic away from the arena after the event. It's pricey (about $40) but our parking reservation started at 1 pm and ended at 10 pm so plenty of time to be able to park there, eat before or after the game, or even walk around the arena. We didn't get there early enough to walk around before the game so don't know about the neighborhood - seemed OK from what we saw. Everyone who works there is working hard to make sure you enjoy the event you're attending and they succeeded with us.
Red Wings VS Blue Jackets, December 17, 2019
Although the Red Wings lost, we had an enjoyable time. The beer and food are way over-priced, however. The seats were good and the Ticketmaster app made it quite easy to access my tickets and present them to the ticket agent at the gate. I do hope that the Red Wings organization makes a change in the head coaching position as I feel that Jeff Blashill is not getting the most out of his players. I feel that the Wings should pursue a new goalie and better defense men as well. The offense, despite the individual skills, doesn't seem to have the coordinated plays necessary to get more SOG and the Wings are consistently out shot 2:1 in many games.
1st Visit
I got a chance this past weekend to finally get to LCA to watch the Wings play the Senators. I can sum up the entire evening in one word AMAZING. From the on site parking you can book in advance to the easy access and well light arena parking and entrances I felt safe with my family. The arena is laid out great and the many, many concession spots got us through the lines fast both before and during the intermission. The lights and audio that accompany the enormous screen made for a ground shaking experience that blew away past games I had been too in both old arenas. They really planned this this new arena out from start to finish, the whole experience was fantastic and I can't wait to get back for another game. GO WINGS!
Over served!
We had seats in the upper level. I took my wife and our nephew to their first NHL game. During the game we had overly drunk fans that were in a group together in which they sat in the wrong seats and when the people came that sat there took forever to get out of their way. Half way too late in the game, one fan from this group was so drunk he fell in to the row behind us, while he was falling he spilled his entire beer on my wife and it splattered onto my nephew and I. While this fan was trying to get up he continued to fall into our row onto my nephew. Definitely not happy with how much we spent on tickets and not happy with the lack of cutting people off when they are too drunk
